Just Another Wild Friday Night

Things got pretty crazy around my house Friday night. Following a quick apres-work nap it was time for...baking!!!!

My Mom's Easter Bread recipe is the best - and it's not difficult to prepare, it just requires time to allow the bread to rise before baking. YUMMY!!

  1. Hey, that's my kind of Friday night! Any chance you (or Aunt Viv) are willing to unleash the recipe for this bread? Or is it a highly guarded secret like the Colonel Sanders number?

  2. Ingredients:
    3c. all purpose flour
    1/2c.sugar
    1pkg. instant quick rise yeast
    3/4c.milk
    1/4c.water
    1/2c.butter softened
    3 egg yolks
    Method:
In a large mixing bowl combine half the flour with the sugar and yeast.
In a saucepan heat milk water and butter over low heat.
Use a thermometer to measure temperature and heat to 125 degrees F.
Add to flour mixture and beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
Add egg yolks and 1/2c. flour
Beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
Stir in remaining flour by hand and mix until well blended.
Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let dough rise until double in a warm place about 30 to 40 minutes(I heat the oven to lowest setting and then turn off before adding liquid to dry ingredients).
Stir dough down and turn into a greased 10 inch tube pan.Cover loosely and let rise until double in size-about one hour.
    Bake 35 to 40 minutes @350F.
Allow to cool about 30 minutes before removing from pan.
Stir some milk and sugar together and brush over the top a few minutes after taking out of oven.
